I'm really not. Just saying that Fourth of July and St Patrick's Day celebrations really aren't all that different.
Partake and enjoy them if you want, if you don't care for them then don't. The OP was the one with hate.
Best wishes.

No Irish give a sh!t about St. Patrick's day. It's an excuse for people to get together and get some drinking done. It doesn't take much to convince people to celebrate things.
Cities with a history of strong Irish-Catholic tradition are the cities making a huge of Saint Patrick's Day. See Chicago. See NYC. See Saint Paul, MN.

Perhaps you are confusing Irish with Americans (who may be part Irish).
Dallas has a massive St Patrick's Day celebration and it's not a city with a strong Irish tradition.

As somebody who is significantly smarter than you, I can assure you that you would have been better off not posting such nonsense.

So then what's the Fourth of July?
And Columbus Day and Martin Luther King Day?

Indeed, although I don't think the same level of drinking of colorful presentation exists for those. Although I could be wrong.

If this is your post about Saint Patrick's day is your idea of hate, you need a safe space and a weighted blanket...now!

I don’t think it would have made much of a difference.

OK you so actually have some smarts. It is likely that he would indeed not be better off but do to his limited mental apparatus I was trying to encourage him to think before his next virtual utterance but the futility of such an attempt to enlighten renders me chasing the wind.
Your reading comprehension leaves a lot to be desired.
St patricks day: day for drinking and having fun
OP: upset about it
You seem like a real fun guy
I have always been curious why the Irish protest with hunger strikes. You really have to be hard headed to pull that off.

A form of protest almost exclusively used by political prisoners, there aren't really a lot of protests open to prisoners that can garnish national and international interest and support.
Let me know if you'd like to more about, the most famous hunger strike was in 1981.

I probably didn’t phrase that right. I am familiar with hunger strikes but I can’t see how a person can be able to do it. They were all pretty young guys. Pretty strong convictions.

when I think of hunger strikes I think of Gandhi. he went on hunger strike a number of times in his life and mostly his strikes were to improve conditions for others rather than for himself. to stop violence, to end persecution, and so forth.

Don't forget that Ireland is literally where Bekele became famous in 2002 when he stunned the world with his double win in the XC. He literally destroyed the fields there on consecutive days. I wish I was there. He also destroyed more fields there in 2012 and 2013 in the Great Ireland Run when people thought he wouldn't return from injury. He is amazing. He always was the best.
