I've been eating one meal a day for about 2 months, plant-based and usually vegan. I don't get hungry mid-day anymore. (Drinking plenty of water and taking an occasional pinch of sea salt for electrolytes helps.) Prior to this, I was on an inconsistent 14f/10e to 17f/7e schedule, also plant-based but with dairy and more simple carbs than now.
My experience:
- More consistent energy levels -- likely because this keeps blood sugar consistent throughout the day.
- Cheaper simplified life.
- I enjoy my dinner much more.
- Injury-free as an injury-prone person. (Possibly because of reduced inflammation.) I've ramped up my mileage without the Achilles problems that had plagued me for years.
I'm not dogmatic about this, though. I'll make exceptions when travelling and meeting up with friends and family. I'm making a concerted effort to get enough calories at dinner, since I'm a slight person.
If things go south, I'll try to remember to post an update here. My current regimen seems to work great. At the moment, I run in the morning. But I'm considering running during my lunch break instead. (Easy, since I don't need it to eat.)
