Any OMAD, one meal a day, people here?
Does it work for you ? Weight loss, and better numbers for cholesterol, blood sugar, etc.
Thank you.

No way Jose. For me food is one of the greatest things to live for, it's a great gift in life and I like to take that gift. One meal a day would just be torture. Why put yourself through that? I've heard some decent things about intermittent fasting though but haven't tried it.
OMAD works for me. All of my numbers are better as well as weight loss more energy amazing stuff absolutely amazing.
Probably not as beneficial for people < 50 since the key benefit of OMAD is upregulated autophagy. Older we get the less autophagy and UPS.
Google OMAD Autophagy UPS

You can still eat as much as you want, it's just in a healthier format. And OMAD IS intermittent fasting. Actually, it is more like Intermittent feasting.
Probably miserable on a high-carb, sugar addict diet. When I think back on how I used to snack all day like a demented squirrel it is like a bad joke. I can go about my day without dragging a food bag everywhere.
Technically not OMAD here, but usually eat in a 20f/4e pattern, with 80% animal/20% plant-based foods., about 100-150g animal protein/day with a weight of 155, 8% bf. I call it "Meat First": get the meat/fish/eggs in ya, THEN add on some fat and a few carbs for dessert. Eat until full. Downing 18oz of perfectly seared rare steak is a true pleasure not just for the palate, but for my entire body, especially when training hard. Itis like being royalty, while all the Plebs eat their squirrel/livestock food.
If I am feeling under the weather (rare nowadays), I will go to 24 or 36 hours fasted. Almsot all runs are 16-20 hours fasted, sleep is awesome.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMmXw9gwd5gI tried it but I didn’t see any difference in terms of energy or hunger compared to other intermittent fasting. I ended up using the almost the same feeding window hours as my normal 2 meal IF schedule so it seemed kind of pointless.
I think it might work better for someone who enjoys liquid calories from smoothies/nutritional drinks. Because then you can drink, eat, drink in the feed hours. I just eat food hah, so it was really tedious to just eat and eat and eat.
OMAD on the weekends only.
Run early both days, then eat for like a 1-2 hr window. Get my fix for cookies and breads, scoops of nut butter. I like OMAD as I eat until I’m really feeling full, as opposed to when I should be full. Numbers relatively unchanged, but no issues with weight gain/loss. Plus it’s convenient to eat once a day. This wouldn’t work for most of the dorks / wimpy eaters on this forum as you need to eat a lot on OMAD to have energy and pop up the next day for a long weekend run.
Been eating one meal a day now for 15 years. Not on purpose, it just happened. I only eat dinner. Wake up, go to work, don’t have to take a lunch break. I do manual labor by the way. Saves a ton of time not eating all the time. I’m also plant based diet too. I feel great and always have plenty of energy to play with my kids after a long day of digging trenches with a shovel.
I didn’t do it on purpose, just happened to save time. But I would never go back to eating three meals a day.
Started one meal a day in 2006. Stumbled on it as something that worked for me, never heard of IF at the time. I could be disciplined all day knowing I could eat whatever I wanted for dinner. Okay, not whatever I wanted, but enough to satisfy. Slowly lost 55 pounds over 2 to 2.5 years, and have kept it off. No more cholesterol or BP medicine needed. Do I think there is anything special about IF beyond eating less? I have no idea.
Now 60. Sample size of 1, and doubt that this would be the best (easiest) approach for all, but try for yourself if so inclined.
Been one meal a day for a long, long time. I just don't seem to need more and I don't get hungry. I've seen no negative effects with mental or physical sharpness. And, my running has always gone well. Like others that have posted, I just happened onto eating once a day. I'm now 59.
68 yr old here who retired a year and a half ago. Not OMAD but I've trained myself down to two meals a day since I retired. I get up about 4:30AM, and starting at 5:00AM do about a 90 minute running and cross-training workout, then eat a big carb-focused breakfast, usually granola, yogurt and lots of coffee, and then eat a second protein-focused meal about 2:00PM. I cycle through red meat, chicken, fish and eggs for my main protein sources. Switching to two meals a day has caused me to drop about 2-3 lbs. I feel like I sleep better and don't feel depleted in workouts. I don't think I could eat on this schedule if I still was working and not totally on my own time.
Interesting posts. I live in China where virtually everyone eats 3 squares a day and every day at roughly 7-8a.m., 11-12.15, and 17.00-18.30 -yes, they all tend to eat early in China.
I am doing this because of a health scare last year, where my fbs was borderline. My main motivation is to lower A1C and cholesterol. There is an OMAD guru on Youtube from Texas, I think named Joe, whose videos make perfect sense to me.
What I do now is fasting 3 times a week until lunchtime, usually 15 hrs after my last meal, and sometimes up to20 hrs. This is a work in progress. Reduced my weight from about 80kg, down to 74kg, this past year...I guess that is from about 180 to 166.
Once again, the main motivation is to lower FBS, overall cholesterol, and clean up fatty liver.
Interesting testimonies here.
OMAD is not yet easy for me, but I think 2 meals a day is already a step in the right direction.

And yet, in a time of plenty, infallible humans - not someone like you, who is perfect - tend to overeat and be overweight. Whatever we do, let's not suggest any alternatives for them to try.

This is rather surprising in view of the fact that your occupation is heavy manual labor. The OMAD guru on youtube (Joe), suggests OMAD and serious physical work are not compatible. He says walking and light lifting are ok. He says even OMAD with much reduced exercise is the best way to go for sustainable weight loss. The key, according to him is diet and fadting, not exercise. He also claims that if you fast and/or OMAD 1-3 (preferably the latter) for the rest of your life, the vast majority will take care of their health that way.

Probably meant fallible, which proves your point.
Due to my self hate and suicidal tendencies, ya i eat maybe once a day
I practice 18:6.
Run around 7, eat between 2 and 8pm. Love it
I travel to China often for long period of time. When I'm there, I generally do two-a-days training with two meals a day. I often buy a half or whole duck and eat through that across two meals when traveling.
I'm surprised that you're even finding all this stuff in China. You're quite right about 3 square meals phenomenon. Not many people are willing to deviate from that.
I've been eating one meal a day for about 2 months, plant-based and usually vegan. I don't get hungry mid-day anymore. (Drinking plenty of water and taking an occasional pinch of sea salt for electrolytes helps.) Prior to this, I was on an inconsistent 14f/10e to 17f/7e schedule, also plant-based but with dairy and more simple carbs than now.
My experience:
- More consistent energy levels -- likely because this keeps blood sugar consistent throughout the day.
- Cheaper simplified life.
- I enjoy my dinner much more.
- Injury-free as an injury-prone person. (Possibly because of reduced inflammation.) I've ramped up my mileage without the Achilles problems that had plagued me for years.
I'm not dogmatic about this, though. I'll make exceptions when travelling and meeting up with friends and family. I'm making a concerted effort to get enough calories at dinner, since I'm a slight person.
If things go south, I'll try to remember to post an update here. My current regimen seems to work great. At the moment, I run in the morning. But I'm considering running during my lunch break instead. (Easy, since I don't need it to eat.)
