Agreed people shouldn’t be tripping but I’ve coached two kids that have fallen there. One was a 15:45 guy there that maybe lost 10-15 seconds going down and having to fight his way through the back of the pack. Not a huge deal for our team score.
The other one was heartbreaking. Someone to his side tripped and reached out to steady himself. In the process he grabbed our kids jersey and pulled him down which then caused 4 others to come down. One kid didn’t get back up. The kid I was coaching essentially had to start from last place and it took him almost 2 miles to get back to the front of the race. He was finally in the lead making the last turn with 4-500 meters to go but got didn’t have enough gas to hold on for the win. Still ended up being an all-American at Footlocker but that individual title would have been nice to have. It didn’t effect our team score thankfully as he was still the #1 team scorer.
The curb doesn’t serve much purpose there and could easily be removed.
