Sounds like he contacted the coach before the dead period. It’s more like a dead distance program.

Did you ever get a response? What are your plans now?
Did you go to Tulane in the end?

I ended up backing out of my early decision commitment because the financial aid offer was not very good. My family would have needed to pay significantly more than our EFC for me to attend Tulane. It was disappointing but I appreciate Tulane for being understanding throughout the process.
I ended up running 9:16 for the 3200 at a strong invitational which caught the attention of a few coaches, notably from some ACC and BIG 10 schools. I decided to accept a walk-on offer at a BIG 10 school because the coach helped me acquire academic scholarship money and an invitation into the Honors College.
To anyone on the Tulane program reading this: I wish you all the best of luck this upcoming season and I’m sorry if I came across as a douche in any of my posts.
Best of luck to you.
OAN - I feel that when one goes through the Early Decision process, the school has you somewhat over a barrel, as they can offer you less financial aid vis-a-vis with someone that might have been accepted with no strings attached. Anyone find this to be true?
