In the 5 years since going to a polarized Daniels-based approach I havent had 1 significant injury. Only some minor strains/tendinitis that caused a down week or two. Nothing major. No missed races.
I like to think it’s because I built my mileage slowly, I push hard but not too hard, I warmup slowly and stretch, I wear good shoes, I workout on the even surface of a track, I avoid running in the dark, and I have Dr. Andrews on speed dial.
Same with me. I suffered lengthy knee injuries after both college XC seasons (Lydiard-based system), but have had only minor injuries since.
And I agree -- I don't think it's reflective of the system I was using. I've been better at doing the things you listed. Aside from Dr. Andrews. I need a Dr. Andrews.
Might also have to do with not letting chiropracters work on me since I moved South. (Apologies to any chiropracters who might be reading.)
