Yes, it's a thing. Same with clothing and helmets.

ah you are discovering the awesome Takumi just in time to realize they aren't made any more
honestly though I assume with your shoe size you have some weight so they would not be ideal
it's like a firm adios with even less support, very little boost in strategic parts to keep down weight
adidas really needs to come up with a replacement, the sub2 was a waste of everyone's time and money
How would you compare the Ren/Sen cushion to the LT3? That was on the firm end of “acceptable” for me. I am just enamored with TPU cushioning...
No comparison; Sen is downright cushy compared to the LT. I would hesistate to wear the current LT4 for anything over 10k (5'11", 160), while the TSen is comfortable up to 13.1 easily.
Oddly enough, I've always felt like the Sen actually has more boost foam under forefoot than the Adios. Not sure if this is legit or just a result of the lower drop.
As it happens, I have a nice pair of size 11 Sens with the tags still on. Here's how they look side by side with the LT4.

I personally cannot stand the Nike Streak/LT so I would be a bad source for comparison, I am fore/midfoot striker and the LT has near zero toe-spring for me, I wore them for a few runs and returned them very disappointed
I love the Takumi (sen) for anything under a half, but I am very very light
the boost foam in the takumi is minimal and strategically placed, if you are over 150 pounds and a heel striker, the takumi is most likely not going to make you happy
plus even if you decided you like them, I doubt you'd be able to find them anywhere at a reasonable price after 2019
hopefully adidas has something fresh in the works for for 2019, the adios4 simply isn't going to cut it with every other shoe maker coming up with their own version of the vaporfly

... The idea of a true racing flat with a wider forefoot is very appealing to me. Unfortunately, the Sen & Ren aren't offered in clown sizes - 14 - so I wonder: are there other companies with true racing flats out there - maybe only readily available overseas - built on a so-called "Asian last"?
I realize this is a pretty niche question, so apologies in advance if I bump this once or twice.
I think the "Asian Last" is somewhat wider than normal, but not as wide as a 2E. If you are looking for a wider racing flat, try the 7.1 ounce MEN'S NEW BALANCE 1400V6
in 2E wide:
https://www.roadrunnersports.com/rrs/products/22302/?_requestid=120491I went with these after my narrow Nike Zoom Flys were causing me pain in the middle of the ball of my foot (aka Metatarsalgia).
Altra's whole thing is a more natural foot shape last. Altras have spoiled my feet that I can't comfortably wear any of the typical narrow shoes out there anymore. I love the Golden Spikes for XC. Other brands that offer variable widths just don't make the toe box wider but the whole shoe.
the adios4 simply isn't going to cut it with every other shoe maker coming up with their own version of the vaporfly
Who else has a version of the vaporfly?

+1
To my knowledge:
Hoka Rocket? defunct
Skechers Razor 3 Elite? Elites only
Brooks Hyperion Elite? Elites only
No one that I know of has a version of the VF4%. Would love to be proven wrong :-)

This is merely experience rather than actual knowledge of a separate last, but i do find that few shoes fit my forefoot well, almost all are too tight across the widest part of the foot. The takumis sen meanwhile, fits my foot like a glove, far better than any other adidas ive tried. So i suspect the “asian last” is a real difference. Have you tried buying direct through adidas japan?
Trying to buy from AdiJapan... any hints? The system does not like my USA address, lol.

Maybe get a PO box or find someone who lives in Japan to ship you some.

hoka rocket is alive and well and shipping to public in February, Cam Levins and Stephanie Bruce have already been using them this season - Hoka "rebooted" it under their EVO branding with a new upper

Just in time for my birthday ?
Funny. I run in the streak lt for everything up to 13.1 and the takumi sen was the worst flat I ever tried.

before you buy look at the Mizuno Shoes as well. Esp if you like the 10-12mm drop on flats.
Use a PO box , " reship" if you have an account , or deliver to local mail for pickup .

Yes . There is an Asian last. Nike believes the typical american foot is shaped like a narrow pointy garden spade. Same with adidas, where they believe white men and women in america have the same narrow pointy feet.
Are you kidding? Nike flats are ridiculously wide, especially the uppers!
Running warehouse Europe has the newest models already.

I was an old man near 50 and stuck at 18 minutes for 5km for the last decade. The first race I ran in them I dropped 20 seconds and smoked a bunch of vaporfly 4% wearing youngsters.
Don't you want some of that?
30 dollars compared to 160 with shipping trouble too?
