First, I should mention that I'm a rather elite age-group triathlete (KONA BABY!). I chose to focus on cycling recently because it is a more rewarding and efficient workout.
I cycle a lot on a small, paved, two-lane multi-use trail. It annoys me when groups of wannabe Allie Kieffers "tempo" they're way right down the middle of the path that's mostly used for commuting cyclists.
This fall I started commuting and it can be dark early in the mornings and evenings on my commute and runners are much worse. Multiples times running in the dark I have had too ride off the path, or stumble along the side to avoid groups running three-wide wearing their fancy earpods toward me on the two-lane path.
There are leaves covering the path now so riding on the edge has a huge risk of falling or hurting myself. Thursday night a jerk running toward me in the center of my lane grazed me. Afterward I was wondering if I should have leaned left just enough to make body contact and knock him back to HIS SIDE of the trail.
Has anyone had similar experiences? I assume cyclists have the right of way and if I don’t get out of their way it is on them to avoid me. It seems so bizarre to me that anyone running wouldn't have the courtesy to just stay in their lane.
