The first acts will play for 30 minutes. Then the middle acts might play for 45 minutes to an hour. The last 4 (the headliners) all play for an hour & a half or so. With the final band or 2 possibly playing for 2 hours.
There's 2 stages.
The main stage, starts later than the 2nd stage & ends later. The 2nd stage is mainly lesser known bands, but usually has a pretty good headliner that is worth checking out. The only problem is that you have to decide on seeing them, or the 3rd or 4th from the end band on the main stage. & by that time if you're concerned with crowd position, you won't want to give up your spot, because it'll only get more packed up front.
Overall I thought it was awesome. I saw Ozzy at Ozzfest in Donnington Park, England. Can't beat that. I want to see Maiden & Sabbath, but I think I'll be out of town when they come thru here.
so say I want to see black sabth and iron maiden but not some o the other bands?
If you don't mind being a mile away from the stage, then just show up later. If you want to be up close, you'll have to make the sacrifice & get there early. When I went in England, they had a fenced off pit up front, where they gave out a limited number of wrist bands. Those that got up there early & grabbed one, were able to come & go from the pit as they pleased. If you didn't have a band, you didn't get in. Even with that, I stood in the exact same spot, for 8 hours, so I wouldn't lose my spot. 8 hours of Slayer, System of a Down, Tool & Ozzy.... after already being there for a good while. But hey, I was front row center & I knew I wouldn't get it back if I left.
