We had another time trial today and my coaches stopwatch said a 5:07 but I was running in lane 2 for a couple of the turns and for some reason my Garmin Forerunner 230 days I got a 4:55?
Don't bother with GPS measurement on the track, you know the track is 400m long. You'll break 5, just have some patience. Keep doing whatever you are doing. 35 - 50 mpw, workouts where you are running fast & RELAXED, and race fairly frequently. Forget about your teammates' times - they are irrelevant to your progress.
My only worry is the stated 2:22.0 800m PB. You need to be able to run around 2:15.0 to ensure a sub 5 clocking. That said, it is October. There is A LOT of time before any track meets of any importance. Basically, keep running and you'll hit 4.59 or faster sooner or later. Good luck.
