I strained my calf a couple weeks ago. I haven't been injured for a while, and forgot how much it sucks. So, I thought I'd start a thread for those who are injured to chat: How long have you been hurt? Where are you at with recovery? How's it going?
Me, I've been hurt for almost 3 weeks. I've finally been able to run 20 minutes with no acute pain. But, I still have a dull ache in my calf off and on throughout the day; it worries me.
Others?
The dull ache might just be stiffness associated with scar tissue. I strained my calf in February and was down for 5 weeks before getting back on the road. It does suck, but with water running and swimming I stayed in pretty good shape.
I had some pretty good running and racing in April/May, but now I'm hurt again. I think it's the Tibialis-Posterior tendon caused by ITBS and some excessive pronation on the right side. I haven't done a serious run in 11 days.
I ran for many years with no significant injuries, so I can't really complain. But now I've had 4 injuries in the last 30 months or so. It changes your whole mindset. Even when I'm healthy and running well again, I think like a condemned man. Better get as many races as possible in before the next injury.
