I thought I’d give my input as someone who has recently been through the program. I don’t think anyone would say Coach Hazen is a bad guy. I first went to Malone because I was sold on the idea of being coached by an Olympic distance coach. Looking back on that, I laugh.
Everything said on this board is true. While I don’t think Malone’s time is dead. It’s over, at least, for now. Every year I was there the underperformances were blamed on athletes being negative or 2nd guessing the training. Looking back on that, it’s laughable. No one’s negativity or 2nd guessing would have caused the whole team to not run well. That logic caused a lot of hostility on the team and resulted in some turnover on the roster only to find out the next year it would be the same result. If we would have just had a solid training program with structure and kept the roster consistent. We’d be a top 7 team every year. I left Malone feeling frustrated at my lack of improvement. If I had to do it all over again, I would have went elsewhere.
I don’t think the athletes are responsible for this toxic culture. I think the frustrations over the lack of results are.
Finally,
Before anyone attacks my post please point out one thing that I said that was false. You won’t find one. Time to take ownership over the results.
