In recent events, (as you may also have seen in my other thread) I thought I had so many of the symptoms from google of anemia that I decided to start taking the iron supplements as well. Then, on second thought, I decided to have myself tested.
More for my own record than for anyone else:
Had blood drawn at 3 pm after having both eaten and taken 4 days worth of supplements. Last being 3 hrs before test.
Results:
Iron: 12
Ferritin: 17
TIBC: 475
Doctor said I was not anemic and did not need to take supplements but I am going to ignore him at least temporarily.
Near chronic headache that I've had for years seems to have abated after a week. This is the 2nd day of almost no headache.
I seemed to have also woken up less fatigued the last 2 days although I am still getting very tired mid-day. Maybe this is just normal old-age tiredness.... Will try and keep a note of these things for at least a few weeks to see if this is just some sort of placebo effect.
The teenager reports that she is feeling better but cannot be bothered to elaborate.
Saturday race report: 2M/5M
Weather: 39 degrees with 20-25 mph sustained winds
Me: 18:59 (previous 19:15) I guess I had the winter doldrums last year as well.
17 yo- at science academic contest. Placed 3rd Junior-- Beaten by her ex. It's driving her nuts he beats her at everything academic.
15 yo- 43:31 (previous 5M pr on different course was 41:24) She was told by distance coach to use it as a recovery jog as she's had hard workouts all week and has her first indoor race next Saturday.
13 yo- at robotics competition. Came in 2nd and is headed to state competition again!
9 yo- 16:27 (15:59) 1st female 7-9. This was her last chance in this age group to set the course record (previous 15:55) and was heartbroken she didn't get it.
Other Mom: 18:05
12 yo-14:46
9 yo-16:30 (my daughter barely caught her at the finish)
I talked to Other Mom after the race and as it turns out we have the exact same initials and birthdays. Weirdness.
More for me than you:
Tristan: 13:01
Francis: 15:40
These are other kids on the xc team for school that came to this race.

So far I haven't taken a day off in 2019 and I'm 10.9 miles behind on my 120 mile goal for January. If you are on my Strava then my miles are way off because for some reason Strava will not let me correct my treadmill runs. So it looks like I've done WAY more miles than I really have. Legs are still sore from lifting Thursday. That probably didn't help Saturday's run either.
Anyway, I'm feeling a lot more motivated now even though I doubt I'll make that 7:50 TT on January 29th. Oh well, I'll give it my all either way.
Current Weight still 150. Meh. Will probably miss the weight goal as well but if I'm being honest with myself I wasn't really trying that hard and I knew it was unlikely with the kids at home for 3 weeks. At least I didn't gain weight.
16 days left in this TT cycle. Going to try and be as consistent as possible until then. It's hard to believe 6 weeks blew by already.
