Seeking some advice about getting my mileage back up after basically a couple of weeks off due to illness. I was running 50 mile weeks and am wondering if it is safe just to go back to that level or do I need to build up to that?

Jog a hour a day.
You need to run all the miles you didn't run, so if you didn't run for 2 weeks, you need to do a 150 mile week, or maybe two 100 mile weeks.
Work on your core and back muscles.

That would take me back up to 50 miles give or take (depending on whether there are hills/trail or flat road).
