You are very strange.
Out of the fifteen to twenty-five guys on high school XC, maybe 30% to 40% go out of T&F on average. So lie #1.
You believe only 30 to 40 percent of XC runners go out for track? When I was in high school it was pretty much 100 percent. Certainly no less than 90. Maybe that's not typical but no way is 40 percent the norm.
It's impossible for all of your XC teammates to race 400s & 800s if only about 1/3 are on the track & field team. Lie #2.
How does that make any sense? We usually had about 10 meets per season. Even with a team of 20 distance runners who focus mainly on 1600/3200, there are still plenty of opportunities to hop in a 400 or 800 between the 4x800, medley, open 400, open 800, and 4x400. It's not like all 20 guys can do the 1600/3200 every meet.
Not all of your high school XC teammates who do decide to participate in T&F are asked to race 400s & 800s.
Actually, from my experience, every single one of the 20 or so distance runners on the track team were asked to an 800 at least a few times during the season. Again, between the 4x800, medley, and open 800, this was not hard to do.
