I played a lot of hockey when I was in elementary & middle school, so I guess it built up some endurance. Anyways, my school did a conditioning test twice a year in gym up unitl 8th grade. In 6th grade, I scored the 2nd highest in the school without any training outside of hockey, so my school's XC coach tracked me down and personally talked to me about coming out and trying the sport. Basically him coming and talking to me hit a nerve so I went to a few practice and got hooked. Haven't looked back since.
