his PCT record isn't universally accepted because there had been a lot of fire-related detours, FYI. he took the official detours and added distance when necessary so it's fine by me, he did what he could at the time without breaking the law.
He had a facebook live feed at 2:10pm ET which means he finished in 41 days, 9 hours.
4 days or so under the unsupported and overall FKT by Stringbean.
some will say Stringbean's record is better because he was unsupported, but the reality is that it will be decades before a good comparison can be made, once many others have done the route unsupported and supported. Both were very good efforts and should be appreciated as such.
Hopefully we see Karel in some established ultras in the coming years. Would be interesting to see how he would do in the 100k and farther distances, road or trail.
