I have an opinion on this: that's fast!
Nice work, Pewow. That's a good payday too. It's rare I see anything over $100 around here.

Equally pumped for you. What a great moment for you. There is no age-grade table nor hard liquor that can quantify that feeling. Congrats not only on the win and the payout, but on committing to the race, executing it, and capitalizing on all of your dedication and hardwork. I think you discovered your best pre-race warmup routine...an honest 5k at ~10k pace 10-12 hours prior... :)
Pewow - you have always done all the little things and it has paid off! Congrats Brother! Dolla Dolla Bills Yo.
Invest the 300 wisely . Like the gentleman’s club and bourbon.

Krishna - I would focus on getting the volume where you want it first and then add workouts. Increasing both volume and intensity at the same time can be dangerous. Just 2 cents from an internet rando though.
Stat, that seems to be the conventional wisdom around here, and I'm sure it works well for many people, but I personally prefer to gradually progress both volume and intensity as I build fitness. Right now, workouts like 3 x mile @ threshold or a 2 mile tempo are just ways for me to stay in touch with the "workout mentality" without accumulating much fatigue.
There's a quote that goes something like "willpower is like a muscle, if you don't flex it sometimes it will atrophy" and I think that's true to some degree. I like to keep in touch with pure speed via hill sprints or strides and threshold work with short tempos or cruise intervals for the mental aspect alone. I also find it makes the transition to early season workouts go much more smoothly, although that can be harmful too ;)
To further elaborate on my last post, I am also an admirer of the way Bill Rodgers and other 70s era runners "raced into shape", which I think can be very effective if implemented responsibly. Without any physical explanation, it just seems very intuitive that while progressing workouts and total volume, one should progress their mindset towards competition as well. It also helps establish a love of racing, which for me is the whole point of running!
