Great quote from Mr. Murphy. He also says he thinks he's rounding into form at a good time.
“Things are coming along good. There are still some things I need to work on and I’m still not on top of my game but I’m at a pretty good point right now,”said Murphy.
When we asked Murphy if he considers himself the favorite for the final, Murphy replied, “That’s for you guys to sit in a dungeon and twittle your fingers and write articles about I guess. I’m out there to race.”

Is Murphy the favorite? '"That’s for you guys to sit in a dungeon and twittle your fingers and write articles about."

Don't worry, he means you too
Geez, he's got the score on you guys. -
That does not sound cool at all. ?
I had one of the most creepy high school senior quotes -
we'll know after the final a lot more. jury is still out.
-
That means after he loses, he'll say "I wasn't feeling well," or "had some tightness in my calf."
-
Did he beat you guys up like he beat up his girlfriend after that?

I notice you chime in on every single Murphy thread with that same type of statement. Can you explain what happened? -
Wonder what happened to his EPO supply. Customs confiscate it coming home from Rio?

Don’t you just get the feeling that this guy thinks his s*** don’t stink..
Ok, I can assure you guys right here right now he won’t win! Harris is gonna wipe the floor with this bum -
It sounds like it came out of resentment at the way he's been written about, maybe commented on in the message boards, while injured and recovering, not himself, but in context it looked more like a commentary about the press facilities there.

Are you sure he didn’t say “twiddle”?

Wow sounds like a bit of a jerk. Will be interesting to see what he has to say if he loses the final. That is if he even would talk to anyone if he loses. If he loses I would expect him to blow through the mixed zone and not say anything. -
That is a pretty snarky answer to a straightforward questions. Is Murphy aware that the track and field press plays an important role in drumming up excitement for track and field, getting fans excited, and maybe increasing the amount he gets paid if more fans pay attention? Sure, throw the press and your fan base under the bus.

Well then the press is doing a lousy job. -

Where is this dungeon that they're supposed to be sitting? -
That’s totally disrespectful. And must stem from albuterol saladbar’s distaste for Letsrun - who are some of the few journalists who have called out cheats and fought for the integrity of the sport.
If Murphy and others think they could make it without any help from the media - in a sport that’s so niche that “fans” like me would lost total contact with it if not for Letsrun, then screw them.
What a prima Donna comment. I get a major superstar like LeBron occasionally being short with the media. Murphy is far from a superstar and sounds more like an ignorant punk.
Now I know who I won’t be rooting for. Can’t wait till Berian is back in form to whoop his ass. -
Track athletes seem to have close to, if not the worst, relationships with the media among pro athletes.
Just can't get out of their own way. Very thin skinned, too. -
Yeah, does he not realize that he's also insulting his current and prospective fans by saying this? Journalists aren't the only ones sitting around asking these questions in anticipation of a big race.

Lighten up dude. Murphy was clearly having a little fun in needling the journalist in a good natured way. Murphy threw nobody under the bus. Do you even know what that phrase means?
