I am the head track coach at Ohio Christian University and last year we were able to sign over 13 female recruits. In return we had a good year in track and field with freshman and sophomore women. However, this year it seems to be very difficult to give female track athletes a track scholarship. We are NAIA and we do not offer full-rides unless it is coupled with federal grants and academic scholarships but we offer good scholarships for athletes that we are willing to take the time to develop. WE have shown great success in a short span of 3 years in developing athletes into highly competitive collegiate athletes. OCU still needs several women for next years team.
Two things:
Is this a pendulum swing for other colleges too?
Do you have any senior girls that are still looking that might get more from us right now than they typically would because of our need?
