Good question. Runners don't take the train, as that goes down to the other side of the mountain. Runners are required to have a support driver who has to head up the auto road before 8 am, and preferably have responsibility for several runners due to limited parking. Details here:

I ran today, figured I could crack 1:10 based off other's half marathon to MWRR times but only managed 1:17. Wind was blowing 35-40 with gusts of 50 up higher, but temps were nice and it was dry. Hopefully I'll have a chance to run again next year!
