50-75g is too much to be keto, but is LCHF: Low-carb - high-fat.
5-20g is common among keto; to be in ketosis.
Nothing wrong with keto if you are sensible.
For those railing against it, the scientific community has PhD's fully for it and PhD' fully against it and PhD's who don't know the latest science either way.
Let them research it out.
For now, if you want to work out and V02 max matters, keto is not going to work.
Otherwise it is a great diet/lifestyle.
Many of (but not all) the posts above are by posters that lack an understanding. Both parties need to research both LCHF and HFLC....
The primary issue with carbs is refined carb consumption and too much consumption of otherwise healthy foods with a high glycemic index + lack of exercise. Don't look at your fellow runner - I mean even a 1:33 half marathon runners who looks moderately slim is probably decently healthy. Go to the mall and look at your normal American: obese.
Naturally occurring carbs in whole foods is absolutely perfectly healthy.
The typical North American diet consists of too much refined carbs like breads, pastas, doughnuts, wraps, candy, white sugar, muffins, juice, soda, candy bars, cakes, cookies, crackers, cereals, ice-cream, chips etc etc.
For those that watch two hours of television at night while snacking on convenience foods, then hit the hay because they are having a carb-insulin crash store all that carb as fat, plus for every gram of carb stored 2.5 more grams of water is stored with it.
Low-but-healthy-carb + high healthy fat is easy to do and healthy, just remove anything made with refined sugar and flour. Done.
