You got it. People in Wisconsin don’t realize that it costs $50k per year to go D3 in other states so most 4:25 guys end up hanging up the spikes and going to their D1 state school to save money. Sure the Wiac schools try to recruit but they are all going after the same kids so the point is not valid.

Dan Schofer, Cornell College. Coached a 2x national champion and numerous other All-Americans on the women's side. He also brought a dying men's program back to life. First national qualifiers on the men's side in decades this past year. Also the best guy and smartest coach around.

D3 school don’t give scholarships for sports but when a school like MIT accepts someone partly based on their athletic ability it would be hard to believe that athlete would enroll in a no name state school instead. Not a knock on MIT as I have heard excellent things about their staff, just giving an example.
I think you look at a school that was stagnant that is outperforming their old marks as a good indicator of whether the new coach has made a difference.
I think any coach that has managed to keep athletes relevant in the last few years in the d3 field is pretty darn good. Big adjustments needed to be made quickly to stay competitive and if they were able to adjust training with the same recruit pool to adjust to that, they know what they are doing.
