Something you are as guilty of anyone else.

Pappy
why not educate yourself on training?
you don't have to just take what you do and call it best.
based on your recent manifesto, you clearly have no understanding of all of the different elements that go into actual training. and a complete fear of the unknown. i can't think of a single plan that makes
read some training logs. (note these are not "plans" also note that even a "plan" should be fluid and adjustable). Open your mind and let go of your ego. your approach sounds like you enjoy it, but at least recognize that it does limit your potential and ultimately lead to plateau.
I'd start by following training of runners like statfanatic or Working Harder. If that's too close to home, then look elsewhere. you may actually learn something if you are quiet long enough to really listen.
*i can't think of a single plan that is outlined in the way that you've generalized with just one hard day a week. yet you describe this as a blanket approach for all "cookie cutter" plans.
Can you show a single example from Pfitz, Daniels, Magness, Kellogg, Lydiard, Canova, Brother Colm O'Connell etc that reflects what you have just described? (one hard day a week and slogging all the rest).
