Watergate is NOTHING compared to the bomb that's about to drop on DC establishment

So we've been inundated with this Russia crap for a year and it turns out that these people made all this s**t up. Not a surprise. Also not a surprise that MSM isn't covering it yet. They'll have to when people start going to jail.

I am always cautious of hyperbole, and both Democrats and Republicans are often guilty of it.

My first instinct upon reading the news about the memo is that the comments are over-dramatic.

However, I must point out that two professors of mine were part of the Watergate prosecution team, and while there is little question as to Nixon's culpability (and those of his henchman), Watergate was in essence a stupid, silly crime - a break-in of Democratic offices and an even dumber cover-up.

The memo, and the FISA court activity to which it apparently relates - and again, we don't know the details - speaks to a very serious matter - that of using the intelligence apparatus to spy on a campaign to influence an election - and a matter that would inspire real concern from those involved in Watergate - as it bears on the integrity of our democracy.

I could be wrong, but I think this will be a scandal of some considerable proportion. You will know that it is when the mainstream media feels compelled to report on it - something I expect to see soon.

Don't conflate any of these comments with being a fan of Trump. Just calling it as I see it now.

How can there possibly be a "FISA abuse", when the whole point of the court is to deny phoney requests? The Obama admin did nothing but follow a respected process involving the laws set out by Congress in makeing their request. They can't even subjugate the FISA people, who are appointed directly by John Roberts (SCOTUS).

They've already been caught lying repeatedly, claiming that the dossier was what triggered the investigation into Trump's campaign when they knew full well that this was false and that the FBI had received earlier tips from numerous sources citing concerns about Trump's Russia connections. Nobody should believe anything they say. In fact, some of them (especially Nunes) should be investigated themselves.

Wait for it. Wait for it. Let's not do any Flagpoling on the right here. Hoping that Democrat corruption will be exposed and punished is a sure path to frustration and insanity.

Liberal Left, Inc..again, to the extent you are saying beware of hyperbole, I agree - let us be healthy skeptics.

But since this memo is going to be the subject of a vote to declassify and release it, if you are correct about Nunes, et.al there should be no reason for the Democrats to object to its release. But they will object to it - because it looks like there is something there "there". No narrative or emotion will defeat that reality.

The best reason for releasing it is that narrative and political back and forth in the end means very little. Documents mean a lot, and it is going to be difficult to keep this one out of the hands of the public.

And as far as the notion that the FISA court approved the warrant, well, I am not sure that exculpates anyone. If the dossier - paid for by a Democratic campaign office - was known to be unsubstantiated - well, yes, people are going to get into trouble for presenting a flimsy document to the court, especially if the warrant was used to try and interfere with an election - the so-called insurance policy to which the FBI agent referred. Facts of course must bear this out.

Again, we must be cautious over the facts. But to dismiss this without substance seems to be a big stretch. There is a reason the DOJ so stridently delayed sending these documents over to Congress.
