Make me faster wrote:
Info:
- 33yo
-15:50 5K PB, 33:09 10K....longer races close (1:15:35, 2:45 marathon)
Current overall plan when training:
- 50 miles/week with 2 speed sessions (4-7K of work), 1 LR
- I'll throw in half marathon paced tempos in the LR every other week or so
- I know increasing mileage will improve marathon and half time...my endurance sucks..
- if I get up to the 80-100mile range, how much faster will those longer races get? AND will those shorter races also improve?
Looking for people who have competed at this level, then took a chance with increasing mileage and saw the impact. I don't have a lot of time in my week, and I'm not sure I want to take the risk...unless I can be convinced that the potential is there!
My experience...
5 yrs ago:
-25yo
-16:10 5k, 34:00 10k (1:15:43 HM, 2:44:16 M)
Plan at that time:
-50mpw with 2 speed sessions (5-10k of work) and a long run
Now:
-30yo
-15:22 5k, 2:30:39 M (no serious 10k or HM races in a long time)
Training plan:
-90mpw, 1 speed session (5-10k of work still), and a medium workout during my long run
