Well perhaps I misspoke that the actual athletes are calling around, but people are reaching out to explore whatever options may be available.
My own personal opinion however, although probably not worth much, is that if a head coach has fired a successful assistant coach because they were performing well in not having as much fun, just tells me that the head coach may not be there very long. I can't believe that a school like Central Michigan is going to pump money into a track-and-field program that is not gonna be competitive in the MAC. It's just not a good financial decision for a mid-major.
The throws coach has do e a very solid job there. The head coach was not great at Murray State either, so this will be interesting to see if this is the only coach that is on their way out.
