According to the British commentator there were 2 million spectators along the roads, but the streets looked pretty empty to me, even the stands at the finish line were partly empty?

It was a great day for Americans. Rupp said he hoped to run 2:05-6 but his goal was to win and never said he was going to push the pace. He ran a very smart race and did what he needed to win.
Racing is great. It doesn't always have to be a time trial. I am critical of Rupp for many things, but today he did what he needed to do and was brilliant.
+1

Not when the women do what they say that they are going to do! a 2:09 marathon is pathetic. HE basically did a Mo farah on the road, and we always get on Mo for that.
Look man, this was set up for Rupp to win. He won, but no one is going to celebrate his win when it is slower than Boston and New York, and way slower then the previous winners of chicago.
Hasay ran 2:20 in her second marathon! That's the equivalent of running 2:05-2:06 on the men's side. That chick might have 2:18 ability!
and she is more talented than rupp.

Uh oh. That fake American Meb is going to be pissed he's being pushed out of the us marathon spotlight
I didn't know Rupp is a Native American. Thought he has European roots, like Men has African roots. Thanks clarifying that for me
Well Rupp did what he had to. LR is frustrated that another opportunity was missed to put the GOAT stamp on him. We still don't know if he's an elite marathoner. And there's no other US men even trying.
Quite the trio of Female Marathoner's in this interview.
Nice interview on NBC with Hasay, Joanie, and Paula.
...
Congrats to Galen Rupp and Jordan Hassay!!!
Infant-face conqueror, nice NBC.
"How do u post pics on this forum?"
You can only do that of wife/girlfriend

Actually, it's about the stupidest possible take you could have on what he did today. (Which of course makes it exactly what you'd expect from 95% of the LR basement-dwellers.)
Whoever posted the Japanese live stream with the Australian commentator - thanks! Perfect stream, coverage and commentary. And no VPN needed. Cheers bro!
NBC commentators said the winning time was the fastest since pace makers were removed.

$100K is not that much money dude. Let's hope he doesn't blow it. At least not on a watch or a car.
Whatta you, uh... think I'm some kind of IDIOT?!?
Of course he's not going to blow it. BUT WHAT IF HE DID?
How much more respect would we have for "the Rupp" if he did something cool like bring a keg to a race in the back of his truck [should've read into the truck>>>mechanic's future more]?
Rupp in a Vette? He'd make Centro look like... D-Urley, the NOP ball boy.

Awesomeness....
I hope Rupp's fresh smile and relaxed demeanor and Alberto's emotion to this massive win in a non-setup race all dig right into the Rupp haters paper-thin sensibilities. It must be strange to hate an American runner so much.
Well done Galen.
It is fascinating to read your post so filled with hatred for non-Rupp fans. It must be odd to hate others so much.
Try to fill your heart with love, brother.
Men went through half way in 1:06:12, not 1:05:50. The chip was mis placed. How can they do this?
GREAT RUN Rupp And Hasay!!!! We have a lot to be proud of!
Apparently Chirine Njeim, a female Olympic downhill skiier ran the race in 2:39. Odd because I don't think of downhill skiing as an aerobically intense sport.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
