Great? she would have been the 5th girl in from Colorado and New Mexico!
Cal factor already taking shape? Where where Knights and Williams, hurt again? CAL SUCKS!

Um, Knights came 5th and beat Oakley.
I'm from Colorado and am a fan of Oakley's. Honestly I'm a little disappointed as I thought she'd fare better today.

Please don't let facts get in the way of a common letsrun opinion

Sure, and how many of those runners that beat her are frosh? Yes, Kelati is listed as a freshman but she is 3 years older. Brie did fine, certainly nothing to concerned about.
Kelati wasn't mentioned....and shes 2 year older then oakley, not 3.
the previous poster simply stated that yes, she would have been the 5th girl for the two best teams in the country. I agree with you, she ran just fine.....However I think the expectations were higher. she was ranked #5 and broke 16 for 5k indoors.......something Kelati never did despite the age difference mentioned above.
I was impressed by how much Ednuh Kurgat broke the course record by! Women's race at nationals should be a doozy.
she peaked in High school. Have you guys seen her run before? She heel strikes and her stride is unorthodoxed compared to the very top runners.
kelati is like 28 at least come on

An actual group of politically conservative Down syndrome kids from Alabama could not produce dumber conversational content on the Internet than Letsrun posters churn out every day! Worse, the goddamn idiots think their smart!! Now figure out if I am trolling or not!!!

Hitting a homerun your first time at bat isn't always a good thing, some the best freshmen are the one's who started slowly.
Brie Oakley did a lot of great things last year, but to have her ranked 4th in the nation is a little bit excessive
16:40 and 12th at Notre Dame? I think she could pull it together for top 20 at nationals though.

Ranked #5 by Flotrack right? In a non scientific polling of their own? That original poll didn't include Knights who beat her by 25 seconds. Their Workout Wednesday shows Knights and Oakley doing a workout where Knights leads most of it and breaks away on the last couple reps. Oakley is a Freshman who doesn't have the same base as distance runners who are older than her despite her talent. 12th place is great in a competitive race. She has a good coach and will keep improving.
And I approve this message! Head to the polls LR's!

Been saying it all along my, Oakley should have gone to CU.
Cal, and their emphasis on speed, is not the right fit for her. She is an aerobic monster...would have flourished at CU whereas she seems to be floundering at Cal after yet another sub-par performance at Wisco!
The amount that Brie Oakley has "floundered" is exactly the amount one would expect to see going from living/training at altitude to living/training at sea-level. Nothing has changed other than her environment. She likely would have been right around 11th place at Wisconsin had she stayed at altitude. It's not rocket science.
NAU, Colorado, UNM, Adams State, etc.
Wish she picked Oregon oh well the Ducks should be fine for at least this year and next in Women's Cross :)

Except that now she’s getting beaten by girls that shouldn’t be beating her. Even some freshmen.
The speed oriented emphasis at Cal is hampering her. If she were at CU, I honestly feel she’d be right there with Dani Jones and Katie Rainsberger, her old rival from their Colorado high school days.

Then they shouldn’t have ignored her on her visit & offered zero scholarship.
