True, I don't like all his political views but he is a great figure of the last 25 years.
If you are conservative and need your rockers and actors to share your political views you are going to have a very short list from which to choose. Libs are all about the emotion, the fantasy. Their place is in the arts. That's where they shine. Conservatives, not so much.

Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones, and John Bonham were in three legendary bands - Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin and Led Zeppelin.
I am by no means a hardcore FF fan, but they are a phenomenal album band and Grohl (like him or not) is a genius. I know I am likely in the minority, but prefer FF over Nirvana and Nirvana essentially defined my generation.
- Everlong hooked me, but so many other great tunes . . .
- Times like these (brilliant intro)
- Learn to fly
- Best of you
- Aurora
- Headwires
And some their stuff just flat out rocks . . .
- My poor brain
- Enough space
- All my life
- Have it all (end of this one is mind blowing)
I have seen them live once and can't say I was incredibly impressed. They are definitely a better studio band. But Grohl's energy is undeniable.
Oh, and their drummer kills, just ask Geddy and Alex . . .

The first Foos album is solid though.

Scream was a big deal in the D.C. hardcore scene of the 1980s and early 90s. Is that your question?
I'm sorry that the Foos have been doing the same thing since "The Colour and the Shape" but they have. Dave clearly ran out of good ideas.
I don't think the Foo Fighters are terrible, but at best they're one of the most overrated bands of all time. Especially when people put them on par with Nirvana. I could go on for days, listing bands in the early 2000's that sound like them.

Has Dave Grohl apologized for his collaboration with Nazi sympathizer Lemmy?

And let's not forget that Pat Smear was the guitarist in the Germs. They were one of the original Los Angeles punk rock bands that started the scene there, as famously documented in "The Decline of Western Civilization." Thanks to Darby Crash's self-destructive lifestyle and premature(?) death, they didn't last long, but Pat Smear would have gone down in history for that alone. Then on top of that, he played 2nd guitar in Nirvana. Then for a 3rd act, he plays guitar for the Foo Fighters. The guy must be 80 years old by now! But how many other musicians have been in THREE legendary bands??
Johnny Marr, Jimmy Page, Neil Schon, Ritchie Blackmore in addition to the others mentioned.
Listing bands from the early 2000's that sound like them? They started in 1995. Ever thought those other bands were influenced by Foo Fighters? And yes, they are a great studio band, but they are even better live. Grohl broke his leg and finished the show...that's how much he puts into his art...and people still downplay him. It's sort of funny how clueless some people are.
And all their albums are different. If you think they are the same over the last 20 years, you aren't listening to the same thing I am.
Why are you people talking about a band and songs from 20 years ago?

The Pretender is a great song too.
"Foo Fighters"--not "The Foo Fighters."
Grohl refers to the band as The Foo Fighters at times.
Best band by far from Seattle is Young Fresh Fellows
Nirvana - awful
Foo Fighters - awful
Jimi Hendrix - great
Hillary Loves Bill - awful
Donald Loves Melania - great
