Apparently multiple police feared for their lives because this 110 lb girl was weilding a multi tool.

An appropriate response. It's little solace but there are high powered Atlanta attorneys who will rightly sue Georgia Tech into oblivion over this.
Superlative work by another super well-trained "peace officer" / coward / campus cop, bravo.
In the narrative of this incident, the student's activism / sexuality has nothing to do with nothing; she was apparently a very good student underground a mental "breakdown" of some kind, "big deal."
Even skinny runners could almost certainly subdue her with little problem, maybe wear gloves in case she bit in close quartets.
RIP to the young woman; burn Georgia Tech burn.

Scout Schultz did not identify as a "girl"

Plz do them a favour in death and do not refer to Scout Schultz with "her", "she" or "woman".
The shooting victim - identified by relatives as Scout Schultz, 21, a four-year engineering student - was seen walking toward police and ignored numerous orders to drop what was believed to be a knife.
Police were originally alerted the unidentified person had a knife and a gun. But faulty 9-1-1 callers never get blamed.
Scout, Scott, she, he, what's the difference?

So not only are the police inept at assessing the situation by themselves, they can't subdue a 110lb woman with a small knife with anything short of deadly force.
That is very comforting.

Scout is not a "woman". Plz stop this trans-hatred.
From the OP article
Scout — who planned to attend grad school and hoped to make biomedical devices — preferred they/them gender pronouns and identified as bisexual, non-binary and intersex, Lynne Schultz said.
Thankx in advance.
Use correct pronouns plz wrote:

My apologies on the reference. I didn't realize Scout was non binary.

Not to mention the original title erroneously called it "LGBT" rather than LGBTQ.
Suicide-by-cop knows no gender.
Comply with police directives or get shot.
Keep advancing, with weapon in hand, towards a policeman who is pointing a gun at you - and get shot.
Obey the law.
It's so easy to NOT get shot by the police. Is there anything easier in this world? It's so easy that it appears that Darwinian evolution is taking place at GT.
Exactly! What did he think would happen?
Is there really any need for campus police to wield guns?

Ever heard of the Virginia Tech shooting by Chao back in the late 90s? A student opened fire killing at least 19 if I recall. So yes, campus police need guns in case they ever have to respond to an active shooter situation.

HB 859 was vetoed by Governor Deal in Georgia. No campus carry currently.

Why don't they just ring up the actual police in that case?
Scout is clearly male, which is apparent from any picture of him. He was not a 110lb girl. Perhaps he was not a legitinate threat, but he was not a woman.
