I'm also super impressed with how his PRs across a range of distances are more or less in line with what the calculators say. I feel like I don't see that very much.

Interesting to see you run that fast and do your easy runs at 7:15-7:30 pace. Did your pace slow down as you increased miles? Do you think the slower pace helps you stay healthy? I like, and do well, running higher mileage and but have lately been in a vicious cycle with injuries and am feeling a bit discouraged and leery of upping my mileage again.

Forcerunner your mileage progression and steady PRs are truly amazing. I think everyone who is hyper analyzing what workouts they are doing day to day (including myself) could learn something by taking a step back and actually listening to the advice thrown around here by many: years of building consistent mileage are what will lead to big improvements. It has not been about getting X miles at Marathon Pace, or how long/fast your Tempo runs are, or how many VO2 intervals. Big picture, it has been unbelievably consistent training with steady progression year after year. That is very impressive.
As a lurker on the Road Racing and Training thread it reminds me of another guy Garbage Disposal who did something similar a couple years back.
Kudos to you on not holding it against your coach too much. I have a feeling that if you did it might hold you back a little. But maybe one could argue that you are one of the first people ever to run beyond 800m on "pure hate"? First marathon ever on pure hate CIM 2017?
Thanks for posting the progression - you inspired many of us on here.
JefftheDrubk - He's my boss at work so he was already knowledgeable about my running. He ran at Hanson's and has run 63:XX 2:14:XX so it's helpful to have someone who has been on the circuit and knows the ins and outs.
jewbacca - I think it was a combination of graduating school and the consecutive years of mileage. I started running with other training partners who were able to push me. Just getting older and not being a teenager anymore helped too.
keepgoing - I was also very surprised when I put the marathon in the calculator. I guess it shows that everything I run is the same effort.
jess - It did slow down. Training paces for easy runs were somewhere between 7:25-8:00 for a while when I first went over 100mpw consistently. I've adjusted slowly but I don't like to push the easy paces. I think the focus on EASY rather than SLOW helps practice the skill of running.
peekay - I know GarbageDisposal a decent bit outside of LRC and learned a lot from his methods. I like going by feel a lot and it's something a lot of people could learn outside of the pace ranges in books. I'm glad to provide more info for people bc I learned a lot from others.
ForceRunner,
I found this post when training for the Cbus half. It's inspiring. My half time isn't good (1:45) but that was done on 25mpw, and like you, I ran Cbus 2017 (68'F, 93% humidity) and did it on 5 hours of sleep. My lifetime goal is to run 3 flat and make Boston, and run a 1:25 half as well. I live in Cbus--lots of great running resources--FrontRunner, Second Sole, the CRC, the MIT training group, etc.
This year it should be cooler!

Bump. Any updates with new PR's since 2017?

ForceRunner posted in the RR&T thread a bit earlier this year. With the slightest amount of digging, you can find his name in this thread and then go find his Strava to see all his training. I know that when he posted earlier this year he was in maintenance shape and working on getting the mileage back up etc. Looks like he just ran a 31:30 for 10km in October, based on Strava.
Colin Sahlman runs 1:45 and Nico Young runs 1:47 in the 800m tonight at the Desert Heat Classic
