Not to be a jerk, but if you are running a 3-hour marathon, just wear whatever trainers you normally run in.

My favourite shoe is the Boston Boost, but I use Clifton 2 for longer, slower runs. I suspect that my Cliftons are a just a little bit too large, so maybe they are better racing shoes than I give them credit for.
I think I will get the Nike Zoom Fly. 99% chance its a hype, but I'm not willing to take the risk:-)
Trying out a brand new race shoe for the first time 2 weeks before your marathon.
Rookie error kid, rookie error!
What about if our marathon time is faster than yours?
I like my lunaracers. I dont know why youd wait until 2 weeks before the marathon to start trying them. You should have done some long workouts in them and then run a few races in them before trying them in a marathon
If where to run a marathon with any shoe I own now it would either be the Boston boost or the kinvara 8
You're a marathon shoe, and I recommend you.
Adios Boost, Adios 1/2, Nike Zoom streak 5 are all good choices. I never ran a marathon but I used an Hagio 2 for the half without any issue so the Adios should do well for the 42km.
Don't overthink it, whatever you use for your long runs normally is what you should be using for the marathon.
Good luck for your goal.
Nike Lunaracers were my shoe of choice, when I used to race marathons. 2 weeks out? Troll.
Short update for anyone interested - I ended up going back to the safe option of a newish pair of Pegs, and ran a small PR. All well that ends well.
Yeah, breaking new shoes in just 2 weeks out was a rookie error - in my slight defence I had been managing an Achilles flare-up which correlated with some more aggressive drop shoes, so had been running exclusively in a worn-in pair of Ghosts and Free RNs for about 2 months. Comfortable but not really fast or springy for a racing shoe. Lesson learned there and will cycle the potential race shoes in earlier next time around - cheers for the advice all!
Was all about the Clifton for a while, making the transition to something a little less "trainer like".. the Hoka Clayton and tracer seem to work well for me.
Maybe it's because he can't run as fast in trainers?
Not everyone on these boards in a 15min 5k'r.
I am running my fast stuff in Saucony Breakthru 2s right now and am LOVING them. I picked them up on clearance for like $25. Light, but still plenty of cushion.
