So previously after our 1 mile warmup for every run we did 10 minutes of static stretching then 6 minutes of dynamic drills+lunges... now, we do the 1 mile warmup and 6 minutes of drills but no longer static stretch! Like wtf we are going to get injured. I'm going to talk to him and set things straight (hopefully before I get injured).
My team stopped static stretching before runs.

Good. I am glad that you realize that no advancements have been made in the field of warmups since 1940.

What evidence do you have that static stretching before workouts reduces injury risk for competitive runners?

I am tight. I stretch and feel better.
I am tight. Do dynamics. Don't feel better.
Increase in IT band & hip flexor injury. -

I feel better after rubbing one out. That doesn't mean it helps my performance.
Numerous studies suggest static stretching before exercise is a poor idea even for "tight" areas. The evidence on if you should static stretch after exercise is a lot more up in the air. -
dynamics before running, statics after running.

I FEEL TIGHT AFTER JUST WARMUP AND DYNAMICS LIKE IMMA GET INJURED IF WE DON'T GO BACK -
What's tight? If your hamstrings are tight then you are sitting too much. Static stretching is not good. Dynamic stretching is alright but all you really need to do to warm up is run.

Of course I do a warmup mile before every run BUT I also need to stretch or else I'll get injured. -
I thought this was a pretty obvious troll, but some people took the bait I guess. 4/10

Again: What's tight?
-
Many teams still do nothing but a jog followed by static stretching

Go to any Diamond League meet and you will see athletes static stretching. -

The OP is talking about stretching during the course of a training session. You're talking about something quite different. Do that in the middle of an actual race and you may encounter some trouble :). -
I do not care what these studies show, I know for an absolute fact that for my body, static stretching most definitely helps me with injury prevention.

Update: the coach dropped static stretching in response to a request made by the best 3-4 runners on the team. I'll talk to him tomorrow and see what happens.
