Me again. Like I said, upper middle class and the biggest benefit that I got was paid education at top private school, a couple trips to Europe, and 8 or 9 major ski trips to places like Aspen and Steamboat.
That said, my dad definitely grew up rich and his dad grew up very very rich. They had nannies and kitchen staff, private schools and tutors, and they went to one of the top universities in the country. Summers at Martha's Vineyard. But they were not into money. My grandfather was involved in philanthropy good causes and traveled the world many times over. My dad could have inherited a 12-15 room small mansion/estate and lived a life of gentrified country club leisure, but wanted none of that--he was hard 'ffen worker, writing papers and grading student projects or tests until 2 AM almost every night.
