Probably because Nic is a world class douche. Search these forums about him.
He won't go to sydney, theres no good groups there
Surprised this hasn't had more reaction.
Mathews has been very vocal in his undying support of Bideau and often trash talked most other groups in Aus during his improvement curve the last 2-3 years.
I'd be surprised if he stays in Melbourne as I guess he wouldn't be able to train with Bideau's MTC group, and I think Bideau also coaches the Sydney group with St Lawrence and Kevin Batt.
That only either leaves solo training by his mum (previous coach until he was 17-28), Canberra group or moving to a US team perhaps like OTCE as he's s nike athlete.
I think he was advised by Geoff Wightman during the champs, so guess that's another option but would mean moving to the UK which seems like a long way from home and would need some financial support by either Nike or athletics Australia.
I think he'll end up back with Bideau within a few weeks when he actually sits down and realises he's screwed!
What is the Brett Robinson story? Never heard this before
he can stay with his mother for a while and think things through
This is the problem with Australia. Bideau tries to corner the market on talent.
There are other great coaches in Australia. I mean look at the marathon women, the three ladies in there (9,20,24) all coached by other coaches.
The problem is Bideau's ego makes it where he wants control of all talent. And in an isolated country like Australia, with not a lot of sponsorship or support, he can do that. He's set it up where if you want a shoe contract or to get into a diamond league meet, he's the only one you can go through in Australia. Or that's what he tells the kids.
His group is the Australian version of NOP.

His mummy will hold his hand and coach him.
He is a hothead. Mind you WvN is coached by his Grandma.
Incorrect.

That is a problem. Who else can get you a race and accommodation in Europe? We really need a manager in that role, not a coach. Athletics Australia should get things sorted, make connections, fund athletes - where does our funding from the government go?

With better birds, am I right?
He could potentially join a group in Melbourne with Jeff Riseley, Zak Patterson, Jmaes Hansen & Tom Fawthorpe?
he could stay in melbourne and train with 3.38 guy isaac hockey
Maybe Gregson was gettinga little jelaous..
to be fair MTC only had 1 finalist (La Caze) at worlds, so not a bad move really

Sonia O'Sullivan leaves Nic Bideau, goes back home to Ireland)...fixed it for ya.
(Fake news now universally acceptable).
It would be a great move to stay in Melbourne and train with Bruce Scriven! Proven track record and a great guy! Was responsible for the rise of Mottram and coached Mark Fountain as a junior. Now responsible for Issac Hockey and Linden Hall

trained with his mums group today
his best option is for me to coach him

The interesting thing was that the MTC apart from Gregson, were all running in NB last year, yet they switched to Nike this year and backwards. Interesting, other cases it usually works in the opposite direction.
