This thread backfired pretty badly haha. We get that you're in love with Rupp, but Kipchoge has better track PRs in every event aside from the 10k than Rupp does.

So the correct statement is " until the day Rupp did it, no sub-4 miler had ever win an Olympic medal in the marathon ."
*won. But actually a true statement, since Kipchoge did it on the same day, haha. Somewhat surprising.
Always been amazing that Geb never snagged an olympic marathon medal. Guess that's how injuries (and maybe priorities) go...
As runners, we should like Kipchoge and we do.There is little, if anything, to dislike about him.True.But, as Americans, shouldn't we love Rupp? There is really nothing (tangible) to dislike about Rupp. Many of you confuse me.In the late 2000s-early 2010s, you liked Acosta for his triple, which in many ways was heroic, but you liked the attitude he had and then hated it, etc. Then, many turned against him when he struggled but was still confident. I still hope he can get back to where he was. But, I digress. Now, there is Rupp. Like Acosta, he was a Duck. The personalities are different, so many rooted for anyone but Rupp. So, you have the Acostas, the Blankenships, the "Centro"s, and Galen Rupp.If so many of you get mad at the louder confidence of AJ, Ben, Matt, etc., then it seems Rupp would be the choice. But, if Rupp is too quiet, then the aforementioned three are your likely people. But, many of you say bad things about all of them, including Hasay (this covers 'have you heard of Jordan Hasay). So, we like Kipchoge on the world stage. But, which Americans SHOULD Americans love?
