lol T&FN is wrong (see pg. 31)
https://trackandfieldnews.com/images/stories/tfn_pdfs/world4s2017.pdfKipchoge is a sub-4 miler.
Rod Dixon won the '72 bronze in 1500. Later he would win the New York Marathon. Has anyone else medaled in the 1500 in OG or WC and later won a major marathon?

Still an interesting fact if Kipchoge and Rupp are the only ones to have ever done so.
Another interesting fact is that Galen Rupp has run the fastest 10000m in the world since 2011 when Kenenisa Bekele was still on the track.
Kipchoge ran 3:50. LOL.

Also, if Rupp had run 1.2 seconds faster that day, he'd have the fastest 10000m since 2006

Also, if his aunt had balls, she'd be his uncle.
Eliud beat Galen to this distinction by 81 seconds. Until then no one had done it.

if rupp has run 7:00 faster at Boston, he STILL wouldn't be the fastest marathoner since 2014.

I had the same thoughts as Dixon was probably the first one of note to achieve marathon success. That win in NYC was so memorable, makes my greatest hits list in terms of most exciting marathons.
Typical rupp fanboy bs
Not to mention he doped

2008? Pretty sure Bekele went sub 26:30 in the pre 10,000m that year

You are correct Tron. Rupp has the third fastest time since 2008. Source:

Bekele ran 26:25.97 at that meet in 2008.

!! Interesting fact: Rupp is the first ever sub-4 miler in AMERICAN history to win an Olympic medal in the marathon !!
