Quite simply who is the best cross runner in high school history.
Quite simply who is the best cross runner in high school history.
Since you say high school I'll restrict my votes to Canada and America:
Sully and Ritz.
Ritz- 3rd at World Junior XC behind Bekele
Honorable mention: German Fernandez

Craig Virgin
Its a coin toss between Ritz, Virgin, and Verzbicas. Like the other person said honorable mention goes to Fernandez and Hunter.
The best high school cross country runner ever is Craig Virgin. He still holds the 3 mile CC state record in Illinois even though they have ran the same course for over 40 years since he then!

I'm sorry that you think Bjorn's talent takes something away from past great runners, and I can understand your viewpoint. At the same time, it is important to be able to take pride in the accomplishment both at the top (Bjorn) and then the next tier (Ritz, Virgin, etc..). Your view is similar to saying that being happy about your own 15:00 5k would take something away from a 14:00 5k runner, and if that is the case in your mind, then that is sad.
Have enough room in your heart for all of the legends, not just the ones who are out to seek fame and pleasure from the masses.
Don't be so close-minded, its 2017 after all, Blast it Steve!
Rueben Reina or Ritz
Gerry Lindgren, and it is not even close.
You have to remember that to 99 percent of the LR community, the earth was created in 2000 or so. Absolutely NOTHING happened in any way, shape or form before that year.
Solomon Haile. 18 seconds faster than Centro on Hereford's Course. Also the only person to break 16 in the state meet with the old course (15:43)
Bruce Egeland.
Seriously, how is this even a question?
The US high school kid who won world junior cross country. Forgot his name. Any high schooler who didn't run world junior cross country is excluded from this conversation, except those that competed before it existed.
Course record on a state championship course, state/national domestic champion against domestic completion in a 5km cross is a joke compared to racing world cross junior race. Ask any kid who's run it.
Eric Hulst
I'd say Amber Trotter, senior year.
Bruce Kidd
Keninisa Bekele obviously.
