Really, Jagoff? Take pride in what, spraying down machines with disinfectant because you a$$holes couldn't remember to do it yourself? Take pride in giving fake smiles to people as they come in so they can feel all special when they walk in?
You know what? I'll write that down-- note to self, take pride in my work after i figure out how i'm going to meet rent, service my student loans, and eat for the next month because i work at a shit ass minimum wage job at the gym. Also, remember to submit another 1000 resumes so they can be ignored. Winter will be here before you know it and I'll need the rejection letters to heat the apartment.
A little pice of advice for disgruntled low wage workers, don't get mad at the clientele. They aren't the one's underpaying you.
Trust me, I've worked way too hard for way too little money before. Once you're at work, you're there so you might as well work hard and try to smile. Maybe something good will come of it, maybe not. On the other hand, being a crappy worker at a crappy job is a surefire way to become chronically unemployed.
As for working at a gym, there are hundreds of job that have worse conditions and bleaker outlook so I wouldn't act like a Russian peasant just yet.
