It seemed like there were a lot of Brazilian shops the first half of the Boston marathon course.
Was I imaging this?
How did so many Brazilians end up forming communities just outside of Boston? Seems like an old place to immigrate.

What's wrong with moving to old places?

In 1964 there was a coup in Brazil which brought to power a military dictatorship which ruled until 1984. A number of Brazilians with the means to do so fled to the US and for some reason many of them settled in the greater Boston area. Some of them also ended up in New York City. I believe France also was a destination for many of those Brazilian ex-patriots.
They've taken over Framingham, which is probably what you saw. Its at 10k. Used to be a middle-working- class downtown but now its a welfare town, which attracted them, along with cheap housing.
Crime, drugs, gangs, like a cold weather Rio, including Carnival.

Outside of Boston? The Brazilians into BJJ in Torrance CA are known for going to bars and starting fights. Constantly.
