It wasn't until my 5th marathon that I qualified for Boston.. That was in 1978 and had to break 3;00. I ran 2:57 in Chicago.
I have now ran 24 marathons. Marathons 5-24 have all been BQ's.

Awesome! Have you filled out the survey?
https://miloandthecalf.com/the-bq-questionnaire/the-boston-qualifier-questionnaire-form/V. cool, but wish the pool was larger. Couldn't someone like strava do this?
Holy shit, this must have been a ton of work

Eh, its fun.
wish you'd collected people's actual finishing times. big difference between bqing with a 2:20 and a 3:00
I don't post every submission to the Boston Qualifier Questionnaire project here, but I thought this one with a guy who ran in 1970 (last year without qualification) to qualify for the next year (standard 3:30) was cool:
Dude BQ'ed before a woman ever ran the race officially.

Moral of the story:
Women can BQ even if they don't run more than a nooby couch to 5ker. Men need to work 10 x's harder.
I'm not sure if women just have no work ethic and make the standard too easy or if men are way to competitive.
Female here, representing. I am one of the points in the survey. I had a VO2 max of 57.0 *when I was out of shape* so I didn't need to run much to get fast. Some people are born with gifts. I am one of them. It's not fair, I know. So yes, if you are out of shape or your VO2 max is low, then you have to work much harder. This is a fact of life.
As for it being easier for women, this is true but only up until age 50 when the tables turn and it becomes far easier for men to qualify.
So wait until you're 50. Then you'll have an advantage over the women and you can shut up. You'll notice you don't hear older women complaining all the time. It's the younger men who feel entitled.
Ahh to be born with a high vo2. Might make up for having to put up with all these stupid dudes.
