Swear to god - that always punches me in the gut. What a guy.
Three simple words that still bring tears to my eyes every time I watch that E60 episode.

Huh? Distance running takes very little concentration at all. It is such a basic activity that nearly anyone can do it. That is part of what makes it a compelling competitive sport.
I don't necessarily agree/disagree with the "autism helps him" argument, but you don't think that running a sub 4 mile requires concentration? News flash: minuscule number of all runners break 4. I believe less than 500(or 600?) Americans have ever done it.

Yes! Precisely. That's why so many of our greatest elite athletes over the years (not just in running), are athletes with autism, just like Mikey.
Because of the expansion of the autism spectrum, I guarantee that if you examine athletes from different eras, you would finds that many of them fall in here somewhere.
Jim Ryun?
Bob Matthias?
Jesse Owens?
They used to call certain characteristics by different terms, but now would fall under autism.
Example- Any of these guys really shy when they were younger?

Did I say running a fast mile is easy?
The hard thing for Mikey will be navigating the rounds at the Trials. His 3:57 last year was awesome, but he has never been very consistent. You have to be on your game for 3 straight races to make the team. It's not just about running well in the final. I expect to see him in the trials in 2020, but honestly I wouldn't even expect him to be in the final, getting bumped out in one of the first two rounds
In a few years, I hope he can do it!
1:49.84 - 800m Freshmen National Record - Cooper Lutkenhaus (check this kick out!!)
Emma Coburn to miss Olympic Trials after breaking ankle in Suzhou
Jakob on Oly 1500- “Walk in the park if I don’t get injured or sick”
VALBY has graduated (w/ honors) from Florida, will she go to grad school??
