18 light beers throughout several hours is doable for a serious binge-drinker.
It will eventually catch up to you and you'll need 6 just to catch a buzz.
It might be just enough, but probably too many.

So I ran a hard week and a good longish run today. Is 18 toooo many?!
As far as alcohol intake goes, no it's not a lot, but just the sheer amount of liquid would probably make me throw up.
I'm on #8 at the moment. 18 is on the high side my friend. If you only donut once in a while, it is too many relative to your regular consumption. If you do 18 regularly, well that's just a lot.
I probably did 10 per day all summer when out with an injury, so I'm not judging, but is is sub-optimal. I think of it as a pick your spots thing.
I might have a drink or two after work during the week, but Saturday and Sunday i get pretty drunk.
Something I've found is that if I have a big Saturday night and get really drunk and wake up hungover, I have incredible runs that morning.
I'm not sure why. It might be because I feel guilty and feel the need to make up for all the drinking and i go do some long run or workout as some kind of way to make up for it.
Pretty sure doing long runs and workouts, executing them well and enjoying it, hungover, makes me an alcoholic. But that's not the only reason..
Germans and Englishmen drink a half dozen real, not lightweight beers each and every day.
As for the poster who drank Schlitz in Cuba that's bogus. They don't have it there.the trade embargo, dummy, remember?
And they drink Cristal, not American pisswater. And sailors drink the wonderful rum.

To answer my own question yes it was excessive. The problem w me is when I increase mileage I seem to drink more beer.
Although impressive, I think you will eventually see diminishing returns with the more miles - more beer training plan. I lost that battle at 4 beers (IPA).

Translation: I am a loser who wants to anonymously brag to strangers about my drinking.
Is it excessive?
Obviously. Same as eating nine cans of ravioli.
Is it a problem or wrong to do?
No, presuming you are young and college aged. If that pattern of excessive drinking persists, or if it interferes with your responsibilities, then it is a problem.

To the OP why mention that the beer is 'light'? It has no relevance to the alcoholic strength it's about the calories
Perhaps he's Canadian? I know that in the USA the word 'light' denotes calorie differences for beer but In Canada, light beer simply means 4% instead of 5%.
yes, you have a problem
People have gone into comas and died from drinking that amount.
