Interesting, and a useful addition to the discussion.
Thanks.
Another MD supports schools opening in the fall.

Right, and the disclaimer continues to be the same - "But local officials should have the discretion to take tailored actions to help keep children safe. "
That pretty much means that when there is one confirmed case, schools will need to shut down and shift to remote learning until the dust settles. And you know why? Because trump has worked very hard to ensure that through now there is no coherent response and that school systems remain ill-prepared for reopening.
Is Trump supporting more funding for schools to reopen safely? Is he advocating for more funding in general for schools to be able to meet remote learning needs and be able to provide a quality education when it's unsafe to attend? Is he telling schools to listen to the experts? I think you know the answer.
Creating confusion, chaos and divisiveness on the issue isn't exactly leadership. He already told the country that he was checking out on responding to COVID and that it's every state for themselves, so the least he can do is stop being a terrible backseat driver while the real leaders are out there scrambling on the battlefield.
So you chiming in about some new MD saying it's ok to reopen with the *disclaimer is meaningless.
