Glad Parkrun are finally driving the elitism out of Parkrun

So, you are slow.

The cool thing about Park Run was that it was a free race that you could just show up to any Saturday morning and run it .

If they go through with these further changes, then what's the point? What's the point of a 3.1 mile group run? They think they are being so "inclusive", but I really think this model will provide less incentive to go and they will draw less and less people.

So don't go then.

Why should me and my gals have to put up with people lapping us when we Parkwalk?

For such an inclusive organisation they brought this big change with no consultation or forewarning. Aggressive decision from ParkRun HQ in the UK impacting all ParkRuns globally. For a "Community based organisation" at the top they've turned into a big corporation pushing ads from their corporate sponsors to the masses [for monetary gain of the top brass in PR HQ]. Poor form.

Disability aside, there will be very few 45minute runners who work as hard as a 15minute runner. They may like to believe they are working as hard, but they won’t be.

I think they should leave the results and record page. If you don't want to look at it, then don't look at the records. I think if they got rid of results, it would become nothing. no one would show up. You might as well just go to the running room and do a group run.

Have to admit that I'm liking this new, emboldened Parkrun. They're annoying all the right people.

still makes me sad when I go on a work meeting to the other side of the country, and there's no longer any point doing the parkrun because I can't smash the course record and have all the normies look at it when they open the website

An unpleasant gaggle of overweight, useless sad sacks making sure everyone else suffers.

I prefer doing the area beer/brewery run circuit instead. It doesn't keep records either, but runners get one free craft beverage after the runs.

Go aim for average and feel good about it.

Why should me and my boys have to deal with lapping people walking their dogs?

This is *such* an unsupportive move for junior runners. My boys, alongside their team mates, love keeping track of their performances and seeing their steady improvement. Not even competition. Rather really healthy self improvement.

And they’re not worried about competition. They just love destroying things of value. Because they hate themselves and have to make sure everyone else suffers.

The top brass at Parkrun have tricked people into blaming the slow out-of-shape runners for this decision by suggesting they only deleted the stats for them, and to encourage even more out-of-shape folk along. This is, of course, absolute nonsense. They deleted the records because they were under growing pressure to address the alarming number of female course records that were held by male runners; one of these was notably held by a male since jailed for violent murder. Rather than remove the males from the female categories, they instead deleted the whole lot and came up with the excuse that they did it for the fatties- a nonsense claim given that a prospective nervous parkrunner would have had to navigate a myriad of sub-menus and filters to even find those records. There is a 0% probability that a first time parkrunner could 'happen upon' those records and be put off by them, it required way too much user interaction. Removing the stats was a complete fudge to deal with the gender stuff, and Paul Sinton-Hewitt himself confirmed this at his meeting with the authors of the petition.

They could always just enter an actual race instead. That way, money goes back into the clubs that host them, supporting the sport from the ground up.

parkrun has managed to avoid all of the costs associated with putting on a race on the basis that it is a run, not a race. On that basis, it makes complete sense not to have records. I’d prefer it if they did away with results altogether.

Is Parkrun a UK/European thing? I've never been in an area that had a weekly 'parkrun'. The only races/runs were official races that just happen annually for each event.
