So awkard:

Who would you rather be? Rupp or Centro?
What's Centro's best 3000m?
I assume Rupp will keep the record but who knows. I used to think Centro would never be a good miler and his best event was the 5k. With that thinking the 3000m might be his best event.
The official Armory press release is out and it includes many of the other people in the field.
The field "includes Ryan Hill, the World Indoor 3,000 meters silver medalist, Olympians Ben Blankenship, Hassan Mead, Mo Ahmed, Donn Cabral, and also Ben True."
“I’m kind of excited about a couple of things,†Centrowitz said. “One is about racing some of (coach) Jerry Schumacher’s guys (Hill and Ahmed). I’ve heard they’re going out to run a fast time, so it sounds like it will be set up for a fast race. There are not many opportunities to run a 2-mile, especially against those guys.â€
Centro says he's focused more on winning than time.
“I’ve noticed that I do a lot better when I put myself in a race to try and win rather than go for time,†Centrowitz said. “I’m pleased where I’m at right now. I feel like I can run a fast time. Eight-oh-seven seems like a strong record. It’s only four seconds off Mo (Farah’s) world record. But if some of those guys get around that (pace) and I’m competitive I could be near it. But I’m more concerned about trying to beat those guys.â€

Did you not read our article. "Centrowitz’s PB for 3000 is 7:40.74."
Sub 8 WB(world best)
run a PR 3000 and close the last 219m in 26
Alberto won't let him go for precious Galen's record.
Here's the facts. Time will back me up on this.
Rupp's 3000/2mile/5000 indoor records as well as his 10000 outdoor time will be ARs for 10 years, if not longer.
I should clarify. No one born in USA will be running faster than those marks.
Interesting.
Has Craig Lutz started his Twitter Trash Talkâ„¢ yet???

Please stop it Craig Lutz ...from Flagstaff.
Go Junior Centro !!! (very speedy 49.7 400m to finish a 6 x 400m in 51.3 second avg. workout before the Olympic 1500m GOLD MEDAL- non-Irish human) !!!
(Watch out Craig Lutz.)

Agree, that guy closed the last lap in 50s at the Olympic 1500m. He has the motor!
I do not think the record is in danger.
They will be looking around and racing each other.
It may be a little fast, but the record is safe.

It's gone
8:04.7
No chance. His 3000 PR is 10s off Rupp's, and his latest 3k was...not fast, no matter what time of year it is.
no one in schumachers group will get under 8:10, probably no one at all . i think Rupp's record is safe.
Hill's PB is 7:30 (outdoor) and he is probably the only other american who can kick with Centro in a 3k. they should go for it. most people aren't in 7:30 3k shape in Mid-January though. UNLESS THEY ARE IN SALAZAR'S TRAINING GROUP
but alberto knows better than to let one of his athletes go after another athlete's AR
fact: ..Lagat's 3k best is 7:29 (outdoor)
He won't come close.
He went through 4:13 for the Mile in his indoor 3000m.. basically what Lukas Verzbicas did..
Rupp went through in 4:03
Different planet.
I don't think Centrowitz gets the record OR wins.
People are obsessed with Centrowitz. He won Gold from slowest race in over 60 years. Sure it was tactical and he's a great runner, but he won't go down in history as one of the greats - times not nearly fast enough. Sad!
If Ryan is in shape, I like his chances.

The inclusion of Hill in the field ensures that it will be tactical.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
