It is not right when other sports' players are publicly castigated by their own institutions, and it is not right in this case either, no matter what excuse is given - betting and odds being the worst of them all. The mere fact that the athletes were (likely temporarily) suspended from the team but not their school as a whole is already indicative of infraction severity (or lack thereof). Let ESPN and the other muckrakers report if they care to, but the institutions display extreme disloyalty to their players in pulling a move like this.
