I thought compression socks were a marketing gimmick at first, but I eventually found them helpful for recovery after long training runs, and long races. Even if it was all just mental, I felt they helped. Couldn't believe I'd ever pay $40 for socks, but I was glad I did!
Maybe I should go back to compression socks, too! :-) Also, my shoes are worn out. I've been wearing minimalist shoes and when those wear down it's like wearing slippers. It might be time to get some more protection in Altras or New Balance (I've been wearing inov-8 and saucony).
