She has PTSD from her experience with Alberto and she is at an undisclosed location somewhere on the east coast of the United States.
http://www.letsrun.com/news/2014/02/alberto-salazar-gabe-grunewalds-husband-get-f-face/Mary is still in Alberto recovery.
I actually do not agree.
Mary Cain is not, nor was she ever, a cross country runner. She's a miler who levels out quick after 3000m. Trying to force her to do the sport she isn't as great at, in the name of "having fun," probably isn't going to help her regain her confidence. She'll lose to a bunch of people who she used to destroy on the track back in 2013-2014. That will just drive her farther down the hole.
In any case, she didn't even race this event anyway.
Mary is nuts, but in running that confers an advantage.

I hear you, and what you are saying is probably true for many.
but for others the opposite is true.
for example, I hate the 800/mile. Loathe it. I am a 5k/10k guy. But I race the mile. Why? Because it makes the 5k/10k that much more appealing, and it teaches me how to race when things aren't going well. I always feel like carp in a mile but I race it as best I can, and sometimes it goes well. It teaches me raciness and how to be tough when I don't want to be tough.

Why is Mary Cain running club nationals? Is she f***ing CRAZY???
Probably entered the race because it there isn't a high likelihood that they would drugs test her.
